Amy & Alex at Bristow Manor

I think this wedding will go down as one of my favorites of all time and here’s why.

1. Amy and Alex are THE most laidback couple I have ever worked with and also one of the most affectionate with one another, which makes for a perfect combination.

2. This was a morning wedding, and I haven’t photographed one of those in years. Not only did the guests get to enjoy omelettes, croissants, and danishes for their meal, they got to enjoy the early afternoon sunshine outside while sipping on coffee and cocktails. Plus, I was home by 6pm, which is unheard of. :)

3. I loved Amy & Alex’s style, as well as Athena’s, Alex’s daughter. When asked what type of dress she wanted to wear as flowergirl, she said either a polka dot dress or one with skulls on it. Clearly, she’s awesome. Amy looked like a Greek goddess in her beautiful gown and Badgley Mischka shoes, and Alex sported an awesome red, white and yellow polka dot tie.

4. Bristow Manor is my new favorite venue. It’s a 19th century southern manor house with a golf course, ponds, an old barn, and lots and lots of tall grass. This place is a photographer’s dream. Fortunately, Alex has golfed at Bristow for years and as soon as he and Amy got engaged, he knew it was the perfect spot for their wedding.

5. For the first time ever, we did portraits of the newlyweds at the end of the wedding, after all the guests had left. I’m so glad Amy suggested this because it made for the most relaxed wedding day portrait session ever. We had nearly an hour to drive around in golf carts finding all the beautiful spots Bristow had to offer. That truly was photographer heaven. :)
