It would be impossible to express in words how gorgeous and colorful this wedding was so I will let the pictures do most of the talking. Let me just say that I was overwhelmed with beauty from the second I arrived at Strong Mansion the afternoon of Oscar and Monika’s wedding. When I arrived, Monika’s Grandma, who performed the ceremony, was calmly waiting while Partyland decorated the mandap that Oscar built himself; Oscar’s sister, who is a cake maker in Venezuela, was working hard in the kitchen on the final cake details; and bright flowers and beautiful details were being put on display. Even this early in the day, I got giddy with anticipation because I knew the day was going to be PERFECT.
I just need to highlight some of my favorite aspects of the day, and then I’ll get on with the photos.
– Strong Mansion, as I’ve said before, is one of my absolute favorites venues in the area. To me, it looks like Great Expectations collided with a Jane Austen novel, and I would just love to spend an afternoon there reading books in the grass.
– Monika’s reception dress was MADE for her. That dress was beautiful, it fit her perfectly, and she looked absolutely AMAZING in it.
– The mix of two cultures. Monika’s family is Indian and Oscar is Venezuelan and they incorporated both cultures seamlessly. After the Hindu wedding ceremony, Oscar and Monika started the reception with a salsa dance (which the crowd LOVED) and the single ladies participated in a Venezuelan ribbon tradition before the cake-cutting.
Now enough rambling from me. Here are the photos. :)
